Ontario Workforce Priority Stream

Ontario PNP Points Calculator (2026 Framework)

Ontario closed all of its previous nominee streams in May 2026 and replaced them with the Ontario Workforce Priority stream, scored in an expression of interest pool. This calculator uses Ontario's published scoring factors.

How you are applying

Self-employed physicians apply without a job offer and are scored out of 115 rather than 130.

Employment and labour market

Only scored when you have under 6 months in the job offer position, and on a lower scale.

Education

A Canadian credential or an Educational Credential Assessment is required.

Must be from an eligible Canadian institution and take at least one year full-time.

Language

If you took both English and French tests, the higher one is used. Academic and One Skill Retake tests are not accepted.

Two languages requires at least CLB 6 across all four abilities in both.

Region

Determined by the work location in your job offer, not where you live.

Ontario's own caveat

Ontario states plainly that scoring factors are not the same as stream criteria. You must meet every requirement of the stream regardless of your score, and your employer must separately obtain approval of the employment position through the employer portal.

There is no published cut-off. Invitations are issued from the pool, so what matters is how your score compares to other candidates at the time of a draw.

Ranking estimate only

Scoring factors are not the same as eligibility criteria. A score here does not mean you qualify — you must separately meet every requirement of the programme. This is not immigration advice.

Ontario PNP questions

Ontario closed all of its previous nominee streams in May 2026 — including Human Capital Priorities, Skilled Trades, the French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream, the Masters and PhD Graduate streams and the employer job offer categories. New applications cannot be filed under any of them. They were replaced by the single Ontario Workforce Priority stream, which uses an expression of interest pool and an entirely different scoring model. If you were mid-preparation, your position is worth reviewing on its facts.

Ontario has not published a cut-off, and because invitations are issued from a pool, what matters is how your score compares with other candidates at the time of a draw rather than hitting a fixed number. A higher score improves your position; it does not guarantee an invitation.

No, and Ontario says so explicitly: scoring factors are not the same as stream criteria. You must separately meet every requirement of the stream regardless of your points total, and provide documents supporting each factor you claimed if you are invited. A score is a ranking estimate, never an eligibility determination.

Regionalisation is worth up to 15 points and is one of the sharpest differentials in the grid. A position in Northern Ontario scores 15, most of the rest of the province scores 10, the GTA outside Toronto scores 5, and the City of Toronto scores 0. The location is taken from the job offer, not from where you live — so two identical candidates can sit 15 points apart on this factor alone.

Physicians apply without a job offer and are scored out of 115 rather than 130, because the hourly wage factor does not apply to them. Your Ontario experience is measured as cumulative medical practice in the province, and your region is determined by your practice address on your OHIP billing registration.

Yes. For job offer applicants, the employer must register with the programme and apply through the employer portal for approval of the employment position before you can register an expression of interest. The process cannot be completed by the applicant alone.
