Ontario replaced its entire stream lineup in May 2026. Here is what that means in practice.
The first stream under Ontario's restructured programme, and currently the only one open. It uses an expression of interest pool with its own scoring factors rather than the old stream-by-stream applications.
Human Capital Priorities, Skilled Trades, the French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream, Masters and PhD Graduate streams and the employer job offer categories were all closed in May 2026. New applications cannot be filed under any of them.
Applications already submitted before the closures are handled differently from ones that were only being prepared. If you were building a profile for a stream that has since closed, your position needs assessing on its facts.
What has not changed is the value of a provincial nomination. If Ontario nominates you, your Express Entry score gains 600 points, which in practice secures an invitation to apply.
