Education
Language
Alberta scores English and French on different scales and awards the higher of the two, rather than adding them. CLB or NCLC 4 in all four abilities is the minimum to submit an EOI.
French scores lower than English at every band: 8, 5 and 3 against 10, 8 and 5.
Work experience and age
Alberta and elsewhere are scored separately and the higher applies — they do not add up.
Must be 18 or older. In-laws do not count. Worth 8 points.
Alberta job offer
Worth 10 points.
Worth 6 points for a designated community endorsement, or an employer in a qualifying sector association.
Calgary and Edmonton score nothing; anywhere else in Alberta scores 5.
Worth 10 points. Requires a recognised licence, or an Alberta Qualification Certificate for trades.

Scoring factors are not the same as eligibility criteria. A score here does not mean you qualify — you must separately meet every requirement of the programme. This is not immigration advice.
